The F80 M3 and F82 M4 share a platform, powertrain, and most mechanical components — but their bodies are different, and carbon fiber parts are NOT interchangeable between them. This guide compares carbon fiber upgrade options across both cars to help you shop correctly and plan your build.
What F80 M3 and F82 M4 Share
Both cars use the same S55 B30 twin-turbo inline-six engine and share the same basic CLAR chassis architecture. They have identical wheelbases and similar overall dimensions. The engine bay, transmission tunnel, and interior structure are shared — meaning any hood vent graphics, interior trim, or engine bay parts that reference these areas apply to both models.
What's Different: Exterior Body Panels
The F80 M3 is a 4-door sedan; the F82 M4 is a 2-door coupe. Their front and rear bumpers, doors, rooflines, and trunk lids are entirely different. Carbon fiber exterior parts are body-specific:
- Front splitter: F80 and F82 versions are different (different bumper geometry)
- Side skirts: Different — F82 coupe has different door cutlines
- Rear diffuser: Different — F80 trunk and F82 trunk lid/bumper geometry differ
- Trunk spoiler: Different — sedan trunk vs. coupe trunk profile
- Mirror covers: SHARED — F80 and F82 use the same door mirrors
- Grille inserts: SHARED — both use the same front grille opening
